Under the heading. From the Register to History, on the occasion of the centenary of his death, we published the birth certificate of Eduardo Scarpetta (1853-1925), one of the greatest renewers of Neapolitan comic theater between the 19th and 20th centuries. An extraordinarily popular author and actor, he was also the inventor of the mask of Felice Sciosciammocca and masterpieces such as Miseria e nobiltà. From his complex private life was born the De Filippo artistic dynasty, destined to make a profound mark on the 20th-century Italian theater scene.
