To mark International Women’s Day, in the column From the register to History We have published the birth certificate of Alfonsina Morini Strada (1891–1959), a pioneer of women’s cycling in Italy and the only woman to compete in the Giro d’Italia in 1924. She is a symbol of determination, resilience and women’s empowerment in sport.
