Users are reminded to:

  • consult and read the information on the various pages of the Portal (Instructions for use, Certificate requests, Join the project) in the Contact form and in the FAQs, in order to find answers to some frequently asked questions and useful clarifications (e.g. What can I do if I find that a page of a register or an entire register is missing in Search in the registers? How can I obtain a certified copy of the documentation published on the Portal? etc.);
  • use the Form available on the Tell Your Story page only to share your family stories and see them published in Read Family Stories;
  • use the appropriate form in the Contact form only to report anomalies, deficiencies and/or typos found in the indexing of registers, deeds, personal data and/or localities and not for other types of requests and requests.

Users are invited not to send emails for:

  • ask to carry out searches on both civil status documents and military documentation. The Portal has always not carried out genealogical and/or personal searches on behalf of users nor does it provide help in this type of search, but makes documentation available to carry out independent searches. Please also note that in the “Tools” section you can find support information for carrying out searches;
  • ask for contact details and contacts of State Archives or other bodies (Municipalities, Dioceses, etc.);
  • request the issuance and sending of certificates and/or copies of matriculation sheets. Please note that the Ancestor Portal does not provide this service. On the “Certificate requests” page, information and insights are available to help you obtain the aforementioned documentation;
  • ask what are the forecasts and timing of publication of the Archives or specific Municipalities/provinces. The planning is shared with FamilySearch and the State Archives on the basis of technical-scientific parameters. To be informed about the latest publications of registers and names and read all the details (consistency, chronological details, number of images), users are invited to consult the dedicated sections of the Portal: “Latest published archives” and “Indexes of published names”;
  • ask how to contribute and report any problems you have with the Family Search site. To date, it is possible to contribute to the indexing of the registers by participating in the projects on the Family Search Italian Projects page. If you have any problems with logging and indexing, please contact Family Search directly;

All communications (e.g. new publications) will be described and reported – as usual – in the News section of the Portal.

Thank you for your cooperation
